On the Ground in Maryland

As one of the region’s largest companies, we are always looking at how we can support the economic growth and overall well being of the areas we serve. This includes efforts that go well beyond making sure the lights come on when our customers flip the switch. Here’s a few ways we’re doing this in Maryland:

  • Enhancing workforce development opportunities and remaining committed to hiring from the communities where we are located.
    • Pepco and our parent company, Pepco Holdings, directly employ about 700 people in Maryland.
    • Pepco’s purchase of goods and services from diverse certified suppliers topped $143 million in 2018, spending millions of dollars through the Maryland supply chain.
  • Working to train, prepare, develop, and employ local, diverse talent.
  • Improving service, customer satisfaction, and supporting community partners.
    • In October, Pepco delivered on a commitment to complete the first innovative nature trail of its kind in our service area along a transmission corridor in North Potomac, Md.
    • Our employees volunteered more than 1,000 hours supporting more than 50 local organizations throughout our Maryland service area in 2018.
    • We also contributed more than $1 million to local Maryland nonprofits in 2018.
