Pepco Holdings CEO Named 100 Most Influential People in D.C. Hispanic Community

Dave Velazquez, the President and CEO of Pepco Holdings, was recently recognized as one of El Tiempo Latino newspaper’s “100 Most Influential People for the Hispanic Community” in the Washington, D.C., metro area. He and the other awardees are featured in the Powermeter 2017 edition of El Tiempo Latino.

The annual Powermeter 100 list acknowledges the most influential people who have an impact in the Hispanic community. Those featured in El Tiempo Latino are chosen based on a nomination process open to the public, which includes more than 400 nominees who have succeeded in business, politics, academia, and advocacy.

“The group of awardees brings significant energy, innovation, and skill to the District of Columbia,” Velazquez said. “It is truly an honor to be recognized as part of this talented group.”

Because of his leadership and dedication to corporate citizenship, last year Pepco Holdings’ employees raised more than $1.5 million for the United Way campaign and completed nearly 15,000 hours working on volunteer projects. In addition, Pepco Holdings has committed to providing at least $50 million in charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations over the next ten years.

Earlier this year, Velazquez also won City Year D.C.’s Lifetime of Idealism Award for his commitment to community service. He serves on several boards throughout the District, including the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute, the United Way of the National Capital Area and the Greater Washington Board of Trade.
