This National Volunteer Month, we’re bringing a few of our volunteers to you. Meet Alexandria Likanchuk, who volunteers her time at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Southern Branch, helping residents in need.
Q: Tell us about your role at the company and how long you have worked here?
A: I work in Governmental & External Affairs, supporting community relations and employee engagement. I organize company-sponsored volunteer initiatives throughout the year, helping support hundreds of local organizations. I’ve worked for Atlantic City Electric since September 2014 and have always been passionate about spearheading volunteer opportunities for our employees to help make a difference in our communities.
Q: Which organization do you personally volunteer with the most?
A: I volunteer most of my time with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Southern Branch, and have for the past two years. I help organize a volunteer event at the food bank each month with our employee volunteers where we help by stocking shelves, sorting and organizing donated food items, and packing boxes with donated food. It’s rewarding to know that spending a few hours every month with this organization truly benefits our community and I am so happy to be a part of it.
Q: Describe your experience with the food bank since becoming a volunteer?
A: I have always had an idea of what a food bank is and what it does, but my initial visit really opened my eyes to the personal impact it has in the community. I learned how the food bank is a life source for residents and saw firsthand the invaluable service it provides for our community. It warms my heart to work alongside the dedicated employees and volunteers who come back month after month to support this worthwhile organization and those who need it most.
