Atlantic City Electric Announces Innovative Program to Educate Future Energy Workforce

At Atlantic City Electric and Exelon, we are continuing our commitment to workforce development by funding a $6.5-million initiative to expand training programs that will educate tomorrow’s energy workforce in New Jersey and drive a cleaner energy future for the state.

“Delivering a cleaner energy future for our customers tomorrow requires investing in the next generation of energy professionals today,” said Dave Velazquez, president and CEO of Pepco Holdings, which includes Atlantic City Electric, Delmarva Power and Pepco. “Through this essential program, we will educate the workforce that will help keep our energy grid running, advance solar, wind and other clean energy technologies, and drive innovation in our industry.”

We are partnering with four southern New Jersey workforce development boards and three vocational schools to launch the six-year program. The initiative, which will kick-off in early 2019, includes four programs: Get into Energy Math and Boot Camp; Women in Sustainable Employment (WISE) Pathway; Atlantic City Electric Line School; and High School Energy Career Academy.

We are proud to support this exciting program and look forward to working with our community partners in implementing this innovative program to provide meaningful jobs throughout the state.
